Sound Dating Advice or: How The Rise of Post-Feminism Has Allowed For Equality In Society.
For one, it would be easy to misconstrue the gesture as highly offensive and to mean she doesn't know how to open the door.
In some cases this may be true. I myself was once briefly involved with a woman who claimed to be a feminist and later became a lesbian - my point? She and her life-partner/"girlfriend" were eventually found dead because - and I'm quoting from the official forensics report - "... a stand-off ensued with both women refusing to open the door for the other in order to renew food supplies and this resulted in both victims dying of starvation."
True story.
So when on a First Date remember that this chivalry of a gesture for what’s sake undermines the last great hurdle to true and proper equality for women and every time a man acquiesces we all take a step backward and undermine another movement toward equality somewhere.
So remember: You don’t dishonour them, let them open their own doors.
